Golf in Dubai

Increasingly Dubai is becoming a major sporting base and at the forefront of this you’ll discover Dubai is ahead of the game in becoming a major Golfing centre.

Several regional amateur and PGA tournaments are held in Dubai during the year. Inaugurated in 1986, the Dubai Desert Classic – www.dubaidesertclassic.com – has become a major golfing event attracting the world’s finest players. After being held at various courses around the emirate, it found its permanent home at the Emirates Golf Club on the Majlis Course. The Dubai Desert Classic normally runs from late January into early February.

From 2009 Dubai has been The European Tour’s International Headquarters with the organisation based at and operating from a purpose-built facility within Jumeirah Golf Estates.

Wherever you’re thinking of playing check first whether or not you need an official handicap certificate, if you’re able to hire clubs if you don’t have your own with you, and all the likely costs including buggy-hire. Whilst you're off enjoying yourself, direct your family to our Places to Visit and Things to Do and Getting Around Dubai pages so you don't have a rebellion on your hands!

Already the city hosts a number of world renowned courses. Two websites in particular will give you a good overview of, and a wealth of information about, the various courses :
www.golfindubai.org and www.dubaigolf.com. You can contact Dubai Golf Central Reservations on 04 380 1234.

On your Dubai holiday and on the golf courses of Dubai, drink lots of bottled water! You'll need it!
